Welcome to our hidden paradise in the Himalayas

The Colonel's Resort is located in the charming hamlet of Bir, in the bosom of the Dhauladhars, in the Kangra valley of Himachal Pradesh.
The hamlet is at an elevation of 5,000 ft (1500 meters) and hemmed by the majestic Dhauladhars that abruptly rise to 11,800 ft (3600 meters) forming a picturesque yet formidable wall to the north.

The resort was built by my wife and I, on our ancestral property after I took retirement from the army. Our ancestors have been a part of the Kangra history for 700 years. The resort is built on a tea estate which is among the oldest in the country. Tea was first planted in the Kangra valley in 1850 by the British, even before the plantations in Assam.

We are pleased to welcome families and small groups as well as individual travellers looking for quiet escapes,
Himalayan adventures or long stay workations. The luscious lawns of the Resort can also be an ideal venue for a wedding or a party.

The resort is pet friendly. We welcome you to bring along your furry friends to join our motley crew of
dogs, horses, cows and the hundreds of birds that are residents in our estate.
